How Can a Manager Avoid Becoming a Victim of a Robot?Автор: Timofey Bugaevsky.
About us: Personal website of Timofey Bugaevsky and the company Zetka Interactive Management: Materials for managers. Our view on whether a manager’s position can be replaced by a robot. Recently, the world has been actively changing toward robotization. Many professions in the near future may be replaced by robots. And this trend extends far beyond heavy manual labor. Reports about new robots appear regularly: drivers, lawyers, accountants. This is happening not somewhere far away, but already in Russia. Everyone who is aware of it asks the question: who is next? As for managers, there is debate, however, because a manager’s salary and the ability to harm the company through erroneous or malicious actions are usually significantly greater than those of rank-and-file employees, the incentive to save on them is large enough that the search for ways to do so is in full swing. As an automation specialist, I can say that only formalized operations are subject to automation, that is, repetitive, well-studied actions and therefore actions that can be described. Therefore, a robot will be able to do your job only if it is monotonous and there is nothing new in it day after day. If, however, you are constantly engaged in finding ways to make your work and the work of your subordinates better, a robot is unlikely to be able to replace you, and in the new technological world you will remain in demand. |
