Translation technologies in 1C:Tranlsator

1C Company developed 1C:Translator application for translators, who work with large number of texts. Especially if those texts should be translated continuously, because they are changing. Usually this is about localization of applications and their documentation. In addition, this application is useful for international websites, books and other translation subjects.

Large books translation, writing and publishing

Large texts, for example books, are hard to manage as a solid text. To simplify translation and creation of large books, 1C:Translator has text import and export features that can split large texts by headings and then combine parts of texts into solid file. Parts of text are available in the application as smaller texts, which you can handle independently.

At the same time with creation of solid translated text, you can publish parts of it directly to your website right from the application.

The application allows to use those features not only for translation, but also to create new texts. You simply do not need to specify the original text.

Changes monitoring and translation

When you work on a live project, the documentation updates continuously. To keep translations up to date, you need to track changes. Version history and changes highlight allow monitoring changes in texts, seeing direct places that were changed, and translate only necessary parts of texts. The character-oriented text comparison feature allows you to see only changed text, even if ones changed the text editor version for original text, thus tags and styles are different now in HTML source.

Project management and collaboration

On large projects, you will need to distribute tasks between team members. For this in 1C:Translator there are projects, text states, assignment of texts to employees, reports, search and filters, access rights, grouped into roles, and much more. The client/server architecture enables you to use the application inside your company network or through the Internet, using thin clients or web clients.

While you can choose between Windows and Linux operating systems, and different DBMS, for small projects it is even not mandatory to configure a server.

You can even customize algorithms of 1C:Translator for your demands using Designer mode of 1C:Enterprise platform.

Source code translation

The syntax highlight is very useful when you translate source codes or need to change something in HTML source of the text. The algorithm uses different parsing methods for different types of text, which allow translated texts to have the same formatting with the source.

The search results highlighting supports two search strings and you can use it to correct two problems at a time or to see the result of replacement highlighted as well as the search string, you replaced.

Dictionary features

To make the automatic selection of translation more accurate, we have implemented the context-dependent dictionary for words, which have more, than one way of translation. You either can specify the scope of usage, for example, heading, or conditions for parts of text before or after the word, using regular expressions.

Translation memory training and automatic filling tools let you save more and more efforts each time you translate a new text.

Sometimes you can find, that the translation for word or sentence, that you or one of your employees used for some time is not correct or you decided to follow the style guide stricter. In this case, you can use the terminology control tool, which will find

Import and export tools allow you to use your own translation memory, which you accumulated using other translation applications.
